I got this off Marketplace all I had to do was pay his shop build (550) he just didn't want to stiff the guy and he had been holding it for 8 months so I jumped. He said it come from a 89 Ford F150. But all the numbers are telling me otherwise. Any help? My research says a f 1990 1 is 91 s?? e thunder chicken
Loks like an engine block. Ford casting numbers only tell you what division picked up the bill to have the mold for a part created, it does not necessarily indicate what vehicle the parts made with that mold end up in...
Yep on engine stand sorry, keep hearing numbers on block above starter these are only numbers I can find it is a vatted, bored .030, ordered everything Summit mild cam I think, 270 duration 0.533 lift at least was on box. The guy said it was out of an 88-89 F150? My question was how can I actually tell I wasnt to put serpintine belts I have a ncomplete set up for a crown vic but was told about reverse rotation, Even at that I put an older timing cover on front to have mechanical fuel pump. Am I heading in right direction? Or oing backwards seems down here in LA (lower alabama) not alot of Ford guys and with prices on Ford items I can see why twice the price of Chevy. I am open to suggestions as I said earlier my son was my mechanical guru even after 23 years in military they still don't come close to resembling any Detroit 8v or 6v much less the continental 12cylinder in the M88 or M60 or last tank M1 with a turbine. First pic is mtr that started the post 2nd pic with lifters 3rd mtr car come with cam in just got lifters in and installed I'm terrible for pics until to late Original motor missing something in #4 hole
What are you putting this into? The cam may not be happy in a truck, and the water pump rotation needs to match the timing cover. So whatever the timing cover is for rotation-wise, you need to get the same pump. That will determine what belt system you need to run. Unless you have all the brackets and pulleys, then that determines what pump and timing cover you need.
The cam cone as a kit from Summit SK35-420-8. According to Sumitt that was in line whith the rebuid and intake I ordered, intake is Edelbrock have;t evenn opened it but is supposed to accept any 4 bbl and I have 4 a 600, 650, and 700? all new yard sale or show stuff. Going with the MSD 84745 distrubuter set up. So thats it so far still trying to figure out this block situation, do I stay with old style front cover for fuel pump or go back to front cover off rhe new motor and add a in line electric. Still want to have everything on brackets a/c, p/s tjis is all going into a 65 Ford Falcon. Thx
Thanks at least someone with a reasonable reply thats what I needed because if it is an older 302 I can't use the serpintene because of reverse flow. I hadn't even thought of it until Im saw a guy post where his mtr burned up at high idle for break in and pump wasn't doing it's job.
because if it is an older 302 I can't use the serpintene because of reverse flow.
Not true, a complete reverse rotation setup(timing cover + pump+ serpentine belt) will bolt on any 302 block you just have use the correct combination of parts. There are reverse and standard rotation water pumps and matching timing covers both with and without the mechanical fuel pump boss, I suspect the story you heard was a result of somebody using a standard rotation pump & cover with a reverse rotating belt setup which obviously won't produce sufficient water flow.
