6.8 vs PSD different twist

While compairing used 2000-2001 Ex I am finding V-10 limited for 27-30K. PSD are running 42-45K. All with under 40K miles. I know some will say this is because the PSD hold's it's value better but I say you could buy a lot of of gas and a toy or two for that much difference. Noise is another issue I see comments on and to those who say the PSD is as quiet inside as gas, I say your probably just loosing your hearing from all the noise. By the way can you say "window down". As for fuel prices, where I live diesel is usually .10 more than unleaded. So if buying used, by my calculations you will never recover the difference because even the mighty PSD will not last forever. If you plan on always towing 8000 lbs or more then maybe you could justify the cost but I cannot.

Just my .2 cent's

but have you driven the turbo diesel? It is a beautiful thing to drive and this is my first diesel truck. Had a diesel Volvo and traded it in with 244,000 miles... only replaced the brake pads on that one...

6.8 vs PSD different twist

I have driven several PSD trucks but not in the excersion. My daily driver is a 96 GMC 6.5 suburban 2500 and while it is quieter than the PSD trucks, it is still to loud. And as for power it is a real slug, the PSD was much better in this dept. I am not anti-diesel I just cannot make the extra cost workout. However just yesterday I found 2 PSD Exc. for 35K so the price diference is geting a little closer. My next pickup truck will be a PSD since it wil have to haul an 11' cabover camper and tow a 5000 lb boat, then the noise is less important but in my next daily driver I want it quiet.
