NO 2002 EXCURSION???????

Probably just another silly unfounded rumor.

The Excursion is a very profitable vehicle for Ford. Sales might be lower than expected but startup costs were probably mitigated substantially by basing it on the SuperDuty swb pickup.

NO 2002 EXCURSION???????

I had heard that originally Ford had put in a bit of a high number for projected sales to begin with--knowing it was unrealistic. I'd hate to see it go out of production so soon.
Hey just hit all time high on MPG tonight hahhaha 9.9mpg 600 miles on my new 2001 Limited V10 engine

Billb. relax, your V10 will gradually improve in mileage to about 11mpg in suburbia. There are a lot of parts that have to break in. Go easy with it & allow it to smooth itself in.

I had been told by many people before buying my truck that the only time u get the higher gas milage with the diesal is when u are towing and its under a load? Are u getting this milage without towing?

Thanks John Z--This info has made me feel better :-)
What is the highway milage I can expect? 14 maybe tops? Any info on milage when towing ? Ill be pulling a 24 ft camper weighing maybe 4300 pounds. I've heard that with trucks the milage doesnt really go down. When I pullled with my 1988 Grand Marquis 5.0 ltr with a tow pkg milage was cut in half from about 20 to 10 when towing. Thanks again for the info. Filled up for 1st time tonight. Had a bit over 1/4 --it was only about $34 to fill--not as bad as I had thinking it would be--Gas station guy threw in free coffee --said that after spending that amount for gas I deserved it hahahhahahahhahha

It's been said that great minds think alike (g) We've been using an Astrovan to pull our 4300lb Aerolite TT. It has done a great job for us, yeah heresy on a Ford BB, but as you noted the mpg while towing was only about 10mpg, AND with the slightly higher compression ratio & higher rpm of the Chevy Vortec V6 we found it necessary to use high test gas while towing. We also noted that half the fuel we used in a year was in the 20-30 days towing. So here we are, the proud owner of an Excursion. I'm only a bit ahead of you in ownership...2600 miles. Not enough highway or towing to see if our theory holds. A few trips around town with the TT indicate that we won't even know it is there. Regarding 2002 Ex...here is a site that tracks sales:

Here are a couple of DOE sites that track national fuel costs:

Point well taken regarding the Astro crash test, nevertheless it is a 4400lb vehicle, so if I must have a head-on, I'll aim for a Japanese make. Also worth noting that not withstanding its weight, the Excursion evades this testing due to its ++8600lb GVWR.

NO 2002 EXCURSION???????

Hey guys, I am employed at the Kentucky Truck Plant (home of the Super Duty) we are running Excursions off the line all day, every day. I would hope that management would say something to the employees before leaking anything to the outside world.
Dont count the Excursion out yet!

You chose a great room to put down Excursions. If you have nothing nice or informative to say why don't you just go hang with the 250/350 crowd. Everyone buys what they feel fits they're needs. No reason to come on here putting down peoples choices.
