Axle offset question

Hi, in the market to buy a rear disc brake upgrade kit for the 1977 F150 Ranger XLT short bed 4x4 we are restoring. Unfortunately the rear axle is disassembled at a shop getting rebuilt right now. I know I have the "Big Ford Old Style) axle flange, but since the axles aren't in I don't have the offset and I need that number. Should be 2.36" but need to confirm. Anyone out there know what the offset was on the 9" rear end at that time? Thanks.

What is it you mean by "offset"?

Distance between the outside of the axle flags to the outside face of the axle once fully inserted. Supposedly 2.36”?

I just never seen that called "offset". Somebody will have one apart to check from flange where wheel mounts to housing where brake baking plate mounts. My "guess" is they are all pretty much same if using standard drum brakes.

the term for what he is asking is --- axle standout or brake offset -- distance from the outside of the axle flange to the housing flange with the axle installed in the housing ,, early 60's 9 inch Fords had a 2-3/8 inch standout ,,, most later model 9 inch axles used 2-1/2 inch standout ,, most of the disc brake conversions are for the 2-1/2 inch standout
