Ordered a set of the steps for my new truck. They came in today with no apparent damage to the box. When I opened them up one of the steps has a ding on the under side. Not sure how it could have happened as it was not the step next to the outside of the box. I don't have the truck yet, still in shipping, so I can't hold it up to see if the ding would be visible. My guess is it won't be seen unless you get low enough to see under the truck, but not sure. I ordered it thru Amazon and they have offered a $270 refund if I'll keep it. Just checking to see if anyone can answer my question.
Agree with the above statement. I believe the damage will be visible since they do stow at an angle.
yeah I mean from standing 1 foot away and looking down it’s probably hidden. Then the fact that the paint will slowly start flaking over time and that spot will become larger
But step back any distance and you’re seeing that from the side
considering the fact they’re new and the price they come at I would wanna fix it before installing them myself
Is that dent on the under truck side or the outside of the board? If on the under truck side you won't be able to see it unless you're laying on the ground. Here's what mine looks like tucked up and away. Look how far away I am standing to even get that much of a underside view.

Thanks for the picture. That helps a bunch. The dent is on the under side of the step and is toward the back edge of it. I'm still mulling over what I want to do but I'm inclined to see if I can make it work. Returning it will be a pain as our local UPS drop off is a CVS pharmacy who probably won't take a box of that size. I'd probably have to take it Tulsa. I think with some touchup paint it would be hard to see. I have until 6/20 to return it. Surely my truck will be in by then. It was shipped on 5/12.
I would have it replaced. Detail shop washed the underside of my boards when washing my truck and didn't get them rinsed. From 15' away I could see the dirt swirls left behind when it dried and stuck out like a sore thumb with the rest of the truck clean.
Return them, especially if you don't even have a truck to put them on yet. Someone else probably already damaged them and returned them and now you are stuck with their return. I would also look at the wiring harness to see if had been installed at one point.

The box had not been opened. All the inside boxes were sealed and the boards were sealed in plastic. I submitted a warranty claim yesterday to get the board replaced since the box had no damage that would have caused the dent. Amp customer service advised me to do this. I submitted pictures of the board and the box so hopefully they will agree that it had to have happened at their end and will send me a replacement. It was built last month so it's a fresh one.
I got the steps installed today. I had put some flat black paint on the dent and it's hard to see it. Amp is sending me a new step so I'll change it when I get it. Really impressed with the steps.
