I'm planning on a full out building of a 49 flathead. If you,ve seen my other posts you know I've been himhawing about wether to build my flathead or shoehorn a diesel into my 1 1/2 ton but I've decided to build the flathead to peak performance and give it a whirl. I keep seeing sites praising the availability of performance parts for the flathead but they must be invisible . I'm looking for a good place to find cams, pistons, possibly a supercharger, all the good stuff that the wife looses sleep over .Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Fordhog, wise decision. I sure wish I had gone that route. Since I don't have a flathead in my 1/2 ton, I can't be of much help, but many here can. Just threw away an old catalogue I think by Joe Smith company who had flathead performance parts.
Also, Edelbrock still lists heads and intakes in their new catalogs.
There is a place making superchargers for flatty's...I think Motor City was working on a fuel injection system for flatheads as well. Flathead jack is a very good place, they know what they are doing.
Gary gave you a good list to work thru. I'd start with Red Hamilton of Red's Headers. He's been around the business a long time and is super to work with. If he doesn't have what you need, he'll know where to send you.
Thanks a lot guys! That will definetly get me started on my way. I'll keep you posted and we'll see how my sick mind and flatheads get along, could be interesting.
Ross Pistons has pistons for the flathead any bore any stroke.
SCAT has brand new modern connecting rods.
There is also a 4.25" stroke crank being produced, probably by CAT.
Cams get with Isky
Heads, Edelbrock and Offenhauser.
Manifolds, Fenton replicas by Patrick's
Ignition, I think Mallory has a new distributor for the flathead.
What more could yo ask???

Yo,Fordhog I've used MSD'sdistributor and ignition on a '50 flatty, absolutely fantastic,by the way,flat-o-matic makes great kits to use a c-4 auto or t-5 stick behind that slab head (flat-o.com) I think the guy runni'n flat-o-matic is Gene and he's real easy to talk to on the phone if ya want info.

Just to add two cents to the other suggestions...Egge Machine Co. at www.egge.com is another source for flathead parts. I'll also second the earlier opinion of starting with Reds Headers...very knowledgable guy and good to work with. Yet another source for some parts is eBay...lots of flathead parts up for auction - buyer beware of course - and be advised that most of the "bargains" have gone away as people tend to bid the price up (sometimes way past what they should) but you can still find some hard to find historic manifolds and carb cores for not bad money.
