I have a 1993 Ford e150 5.0 van bought it second hand, put a fuel pump in because that's supposedly needed, but it still isn't getting fuel to engine. Anybody know why fuel isn't reaching? What should I look for? Engine won't crank (turn over ) until I tip starter. I have a nagging wife someone please help LOL
Can you hear the pump run for a couple of seconds when the key is turned to "On"?
When you say fuel isn't reaching the engine, do you mean you've checked for pressure at the schrader valve?
Have you replaced the fuel filter?
You probably need to check the inertia switch. It's behind the kick panel on the passenger side.
What do you mean by "tip the starter"?
No the fuel pump is not working and no I didn't change the fuel filter, all the fuses and relays have been checked and are good, when I use starting fluid and used a screwdriver on solenoid it turns over and tries to start, a mechanic online says it may be the ignition switch but im not sure
So it didn't run and wouldn't crank with the key when you bought it?
Correct, the person told me it needed a fuel pump and master cylinder,I put the fuel pump in and then discovered it didn't need the master cylinder, the front driver brake line was rusted away. The mechanic I talked to earlier said it may be the ICM or ignition switch, I'm at a loss
Power the fuel pump from the self test connector to check the power feed and relay
You might just have a bad new fuel pump or it is wired incorrectly
Did the mechanic have to re wire the pump to fit your connector?
That power also goes through the tank selector switch if the van has dual tanks
The odds of the problem being either the ignition switch or control module are slim IMO
We mostly all have nagging wives, don't blame her
No I wired it up exactly as I took it off, so you don't think it's the ignition switch or control module? If it is wired up right what else do you think it could be? It's a Florida vehicle so no rust anywhere, body and frame are solid and it just seems a waste just sitting ☹️
It is easy to get the + and - backwards on the pump when you have to wire one in
That way the pump runs but builds no pressure
Ignition switch or control module? Both unlikely and the control module is not in the fuel circuit
Test the voltage hitting the pump, it goes through the tank selector switch
At least check the fuel filter
The problem still is, the truck won't start and has no fuel pressure, right?
What do I think it could be?
Plugged fuel filter, plugged sock, torn hose on the sender connecting the pump, bad electrical connection
Double and triple check your spark
Not sure, just know, that the ones that have one, the fuel pump wiring goes through the switch
Not sure when they discontinued dual tanks, did not even know they did

Had this same problem on a '92 351W after an engine swap, First = check the inertia switch behind the right kick panel, make sure the top plunger is set down.
Second, Replace the MAP sensor (this was my problem after 2 weeks of chasing everything else) - located on top of the evaporator box, right side, under the hood.
If the MAP is not reading vacuum, it will 'turn' the fuel pump off thru the PMC and you will build up pressure at the Schrader valve with key on, cranking will lose fuel pressure.
We could get it running with starting fluid sprayed in the throttle body, but it would quit. Changed the MAP and it fired right up.
OP has been asked a couple of times if he has dual tanks but hasn't answered. More than likely if he does it'll be either the Fuel filter, fuel cutoff switch, switching valve or the high pressure pump. or at the very least he made a bad connection in the wiring or as said before the new pump is no good.
Did the OP check for any spark? it should have fired on the starting fluid if even for just a second.
Op really should buy an OBD I tester there may be some codes. I know when I was having a hard time starting my 91 5.8L it was the TPS that was screwing it up, then the switch valve, then the FP, then the switch valve again....LOL still can't fill the back tank because the front tank will run it over. Even after @manicmechanic007 Sent me the two check valves for the gas lines, the gas still transfers from front to back tank, just something to live with right now.
