deep sounding whine
I have a noise coming from my engine compartment. Its a constant "rrrrrrrrrrrrr" that goes up and down with the throtle. Sounds like its on the left side. Only idle to light throtle. All around town it whines away. If your running at 50mph you don't here it. Once the truck has been running a long time it queits down a little. Any ideas fellas?

My PS pump has always growled when it's cold (below about 35 degrees), but quiets down after a couple minutes.
Recently, a friend complained about a strange noise with his that may be similar to what you are describing. His ears are nearly 70 years old, so when he asked me to take a listen, it was pretty loud. The next day, the tensioner pulley flew off. He was lucky it didn't hit the radiator.
