More Oil Pan
A few days back I left a message re removing a cracked oil pan on a '95 PSD. Got a couple of replies (thanks, gents) saying you have to pull the engine, although both Haynes and Chilton say it's possible to lift the engine only. So I finally called a repair shop, and he thinks you have to pull it too - and since I think I have a blown rear main seal, I'm throwing in the towel and putting back all my mess and taking it in next week. (Discretion and valor and all that.) One thing - they tell me a new pan lists at $690. That put a twist in my BVD's - can this be right, cause if it is, it's weld up the old one time.

I'll have to look into the price, otherwise, I've heard the same thing you have. I have either a oil pan seal leak or rear main leaking, the shop couldn't determine which it is yet, but they told me if it was the pan, out comes the motor, only have to pull the tranny if its the rear main....
