Help Identifying Part on 7.5/460

Hey there. I noticed the other day that my oil pressure gauge in the dash isn't operating anymore. I began to look into the cause for this, beginning with confirming my oil pressure through the use of a pressure test kit. I'm still searching for the oil sender/sensor on this bad boy but while looking for it, I came across something that peaked my curiosity. I tried to take some good photos of what can be observed on the motor today. I haven't got a clue what this component is, nor do I know if it's reliable just to have sitting unsecured in the hole in the engine I pointed out. Looking to get some insight on what this part is and if this is something that needs to be remedied with a better part/installation. Thank you.

PCV valve. Looks like the grommet that holds it in the valve cover is in bad shape. You should be able to get a new grommet and have it securely in the valve cover and then you press the PCV valve into the hole in the grommet.

The oil pressure sending unit should be on the top of the block right behind the intake manifold up against the firewall. Behind that double barrel throttle body you have there.

BTW Like Gary said, Replace the PCV while you are there. It is cheap. The grommet should be in the local parts store help section. There are a couple sizes, so take the old one in.
