The seller told me it is a 1951-52 Steering column-so I am trying to identify what it really is---I also thought they started in 53 but he says not-- so I keep researching it-- it is a NEAT different steering column I would like to keep it--- Thanks
For that money, it's quite likely it's another Hoffman Group part with a history of dangerous defects, or possibly worse. There are all kinds of stories of failures of Hoffman Group or Helix products, or any number of names they sell under, like Johnny Law, etc. Best to do your due diligence on this before dropping a couple hundred on potential garbage.
When I was looking for a column I found an article that reviewed all the different brands. Only Flaming River and Ididit were good. The others were to be avoided at all cost. Different problems but all would potentially lead to a failure. That did not seem good at any speed.
Thanks for all you help-- it is a 1952 Ford car automatic column-- I found a adapter kit to take a smaller steering wheel and will work with this column -- The column was all redone and new wiring and looks OLD school and different with the automatic--Just finishing build up and folks asking what kind of column is that---Thanks again
