I have a 2021 Super Duty and lately have been using Apple Maps for navigation because the synch has lead me astray a few times pulling our fifth wheel. The only thing I don’t like is it will not display in the center screen when in navigation mode, you only get the rotating compass. Google Maps and Sync both show navigation but not Apple Maps. I haven’t tried Waze yet.
Has anyone got it to work, and if you did, how did you do it?
Curious, can you post a screen shot of the issue?
I use CarPlay exclusively, and use an app called MyRoute-app for Nav. My Route App Use it on the bikes with CarPlay too.
I also use this to make routes. Being an Road Captain for our local HOG Chapter we make a lot of rides/ routes and this is the best software out there. It works great with CarPlay.
Anyway I would like to see your issue to see if I can help.
I think you're looking for the map to always point up or forward as opposed to north up. To do that push somewhere on the screen to have the buttons pop up, then turn on 3D, if you like that view... Otherwise push the triangle on the top right. Here's an apple doc that might illustrate this better. https://support.apple.com/guide/ipho...h93c7df449/ios
I may be doing something wrong or missing a step. If I am someone please point it out to me. I find that if I want to use Waze for navigation I have to input the destination on my phone. Then the directions will be forthcoming in SYNC. Viewing Waze in CarPlay on the screen doesn't seem to have a place for directions.
I only really take a long trip once a year. On the most recent trip it was nice to have Waze running in the background behind the music to let me know about construction, accidents, police, etc.
By 'center screen' do you mean the DIC in front of the steering wheel? Or the radio screen? I'm not sure which you mean, but I do know you have to have your radio screen switched over to the CarPlay screen to see its map - it won't do it any other way.

I may go this route (no pun intended), because one of the worst features of Google Maps is the lack of actual routing - all you can do is set a destination and then maybe pick an alternate. Even if you create a route on your desktop and send it to your phone all you get is the final destination. Yes, you can "add a stop" but it's such a hassle to have to do that on the fly rather than getting it set ahead of time.

Thanks!!
I will add, there is also an avoidance feature that if you are towing, you enter max height and it will avoid low clearance obstacles. I haven't played with it, but my buddy has.

Ford navigation does this. Sometimes. For no apparent reason and with no way to turn it off. On a recent 1300 mile vacation trip it would chime and pop up a warning on the infotainment screen at overpasses on the interstates when it felt like it. Sometimes it happened, other times not. Most bridges were 14 feet and higher and I was pulling a little 7x16 enclose trailer.
I found no one here on the forum that had discovered a way to turn it off.
When towing my travel trailer or boat, I use the RVLife app for navigation. You enter the vehicle height and length into the app. It works well and won't take you down a random side street like Waze will do. That has happened to me before while towing my boat.

My in-laws had the same issue using the navigation in my FIL's '23 F250. He wasn't towing, but when they entered the info it gave the option, so to see what it would do they told it they had a trailer. Evidently (I wasn't with them) it would go off for EVERY bridge/overpass to warn them of the height. It would be nice if the system would ask for a trailer height, but then, since most people don't really know what the true height of their trailer is, I'm sure you'd see people avoiding bridges they don't need to, or slamming into bridges they thought they'd clear. So from that standpoint I understand the system being overly alert - but I'm sure it would be annoying.

The first time I pulled the trailer with this truck, it did it on every overpass for many miles. Then it got to warning every now and then. I'd go under several of them with no warnings. Then maybe 2 or 3 in a row and then nothing again. No real rhyme or reason that I could determine.

For a long time those of us with 2022 trucks were hoping to get trailer specific routing added to the Ford nav system, which was advertised but not included. Based on reviews of the new trucks that do have it, I think most of us have given up!
If my phone is not connected before I turn on the truck….i have click around the two different map buttons
if my phone is connected.once I enter address on my phone…if the begin route pops up on the dash screen and it can be selected…the route trace is displayed…if not.The above applies.
I use my phone nav becuase it’s always up to date the ford bac I guess doesn’t update over the air so usb drive updates are needed.

The screen in front of the steering wheel. When I use the Sync Nav or Google Nav, I get directions on the center screen behind the steering wheel. When I use Apple Maps I just get the standard rotating compass.
