I have a new to me 2014 F250 KR. I too am experiencing the "Camera Unavailable" message most of the time when in reverse. It will occasionally work, my previous truck I had for 20 years, GM product, did not have a backup camera and I was fine without it. Hooked up to multiple trailers over the years with no issues. Now that I have one and have seen how nice it is to have one, I would like to use it. I read several of the threads on the different causes, harness near parking brake, harness in tailgate, camera etc. I have ordered an aftermarket replacement camera based on one of those threads, we will see what happens.
My question is this: My truck has the "media hub" with A/V inputs. If I use an aftermarket camera, say a license plate camera, with the RCA feed and plug it into the A/V port and select the A/V input in the stereo setting, the camera feed should appear in the display yes??
I've looked in the owner's manual and it does not really explain what A/V plugs will accept as far as a feed other than it can play your ipod with an adapter from Apple. I know it won't trigger the screen when I put it in reverse but one extra step to see the camera does not seem like to much to do.
