my cruise control is not working after replacing clock spring.
i do not see a fuse for it listed or a number for it in the book. i checked all the fuse's and none were bad. is there a relay ?
i broke the clock spring by over turning the steering wheel when i was replacing the power steering box.
the shaft was disconnected and i turned the wheel side to side to center it. i heard a crunch and snap.
i just installed a new one and now cruise does not work. everything else does.
im thinking it blew a fuse because when i was driving it.( before i replaced it ) the horn would go off every time you turned the wheel. so i think it shorted out.
I was having same issues today after a battery when down when doing fuel filter change and purging air.. after the 4th time of key on, not running and GP charging it got down.. as able to jump to get going and put on charger after wards... but it would show cruise and hold speed for like 3 seconds then drop.. after turning off it would not come on at all..
going to try removing both battery neg cables and let tet sit ofr like 30 mins and reconnect. will know on monday if this works.
my cruise control is not working after replacing clock spring.
Ford seems to make two different clock springs for the Econolines one with and one without Cruise Control. Saves a couple of bucks to have fewer wires I guess. Are you sure you got a Clock spring for Cruise Control?
SO I took battery cables off for 30 mins while on charger last week. after the batter was full charged I put cables back on.. all seems fine now.. Think it was the low battery power confusing the speed control modules.. all good now..
Get ur batteries checked...correctly!
Load test will only show drops in Amps and Volts...you need a real tester that will show u if u have a dead cell. I had no cruise and every now and again a real quick blink of the ABS light. Found 1 of 2, 2.5 year old battery had 2 dead cells.Other was fine..I fix it right...2 new batteries(AAA can test and replace!..their batteries are Interstate, my choice) and a new alternator.
