Does anyone know where I can purchase a repair manual for a 2000 Excursion with a 6.8L V10. I have tried Haynes and Chilton without any luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
look on e-bay right now!! ebay motors actually. Search for excursion some guy is selling service manuals on CD for aroung $18.00, I think. You can wait for mine to come in and I'll let everyone know if it's worth it though. but then again it's only $18-20. Can't be that bad.
Did anyone else receive the Ford Outfitters Insider CD ROM in the mail? It has a link to Ford Tech Services, that has an online service manual, as well as wiring diagrams, service bulletins and recalls.
The books you get from Helminc. are the actual Factory manuals. They are expensive but you will not find any better source of info anywhere. They are also on CD-ROM.
If you decide to get a manual from helm, get the book. I bought the CD-ROM for my Expedition and it is a little difficult to navigate and find what your looking for. There isn't a way to look a the 'big picture' and see what is really available. Their expertise definately lies in manuals and not computer software. I wish I bought the book instead. Also, there are some install issues that forced me to use it on another computer... which happend to be the computer I did NOT want to use.
>Yeah, I opted for the book. I really couldn't take my
>computer out to the garage
That's funny...
This is for all the guys who will read this after you guys(above).
The book mentioned above sells for $140 bucks. Probably worth EVERY cent. No doubt. However, I went ahead and got that CD from the guy on e-bay. It installed just fine and I have been using it all afternoon just to see how comprehensive it is. For $20 I am quite impressed. It's easy to understand and is full of all the info I'll ever need. It also claims to be used by permission from Ford as Ford's logo's are all over it. It covers all the SD's, the X and the Econoline vans. I tried to trip it up by searching for simple things like, how to remove the door panels, the rear window vent motors. It's all there...Plus it has factory part numbers listed. I got it just to keep me on the same sheet of music as my dealer. You see my truck has a 6yr 100K warranty so I won't be wrenchin' on it to fix anything anytime soon. So, for the guys who are short on cash but still wants to "know", consider it. I recommend it for $20.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-Jan-02 AT 07:00 PM (EST)]I sure there are some laws against copying and selling material like that. But you might be able to give them away. LOL
I'll keep an eye on ebay and see if I can't get a deal like you did.
