A/C Accumulator drier

I had removed my ac condenser while doing some work on my 04 F250. The system was open for 2 months. Should I replace the accumulator drier and if so should I get Motorcraft or is any brand ok? Also do I need to add oil and if do how much? Thank you

Motorcraft would be my first choice but honestly any top tier part would be good; 4 Seasons, NAPA, etc etc. I'd also replace any o-rings, Schraeder valve cores, the plastic cover caps along with the orifice tube as well. You'll want to pull a good long deep vacuum before attempting to charge with the refrigerant. Most "sutomated" charging systems will pull most of the residual oil out of the system giving you the option to add oil up to the specified amount.

You might want to consider flushing the entire A/C system before the vacuum and recharging operations.

Thanks for the reply. I looked on Rockauto and the have the MOTORCRAFT for $65 and the FOUR SEASONS30119SKIncludes Accumulator, Orifice Tube, Refrigerant Oil, O-Rings & Gaskets, Cap & Valve Kit for $47. Everything I but is Ford/Motorcraft nut if 4Season is just as good I would get the complete kit. Your thoughts?

I tend to shy away from "kits" especially if it would be a RockAuto creation. I would guess the parts would be the cheaper type---that price is quite scary low to me. I don't set out to spend the most money but if a few dollars more makes a quality difference and saves a re-work later on its money saved IMHO.

I don't recall regretting spending extra money for known good quality parts.
