STAGGERED

Wanted to get an opinion, ive narrowed down my search for my F350 2wd to 285/75/16 and 255/85/16. I will be going with one or the other on classic steelies.

Wanted some input on maybe even trying a different look at going with 255 up front and 285 in the rear. Think it would look good? i feel like it could be a nice combination

Currently Running 235/85/R16

I don't have any idea of how staggered would look on a long full sized crew cab with 8 foot bed. I've always looked at them as simply "work" trucks, necessities even ... but I know many are drawn to the novelty, rarity even. I once was tasked with driving a full 4 door crew cab Dodge ex-US Park Service 4wd truck in Lynchburg, 4 speed, 383 too, that once was worse than my 66 passenger school bus.

I've had two Chevrolet 2wds and I have two Ford 4wds now. Both of those Chevrolets had staggered tire setups. My '70 CST-10 had G70-15 in front and L60-15 in back all 4 on 8" wheels ... and my little '72 C-10 step side had HR78-15 in front on 6" wheels, and 31/11.50-15 (Cooper, was an odd size, but good tire) in back on 8" wheels. The '72 had some rake, but the '70 set might near level with slight mods.

As long as the fronts are capable of the loading in steering, braking, and simple carrying of loads .... I still like them. On such a long wheel base full crew cab, no matter the bed load, the front tires will carry a hefty load.

I liked them both and even once worked out how to stagger the tires on my '77 but it required a re-gear in the rear if I intended to use 4wd any ... and very soon I let the idea go away.

Wow thanks for the info! I think I’ve been convinced. I’ll stick with the same sizing. Those 285 look fantastic on your 4wd!

With all that truck between the axles, I agree.
