Need A New Battery

My 22 Ford F-150 Tremor is in need of a new starting battery. 24 months in and the factory installed battery is going. It's been awhile since I have had to replace a battery and I am surprised by the cost. Looking at $254 for a replacement at Auto Zone. Pretty much the same price a Oreillys. Sams Club has cheaper batteries but I am not sure how good the Duracell batteries are. Auto Zone sells Duralast batteries and I have decided to go that route. I remember reading somewhere maybe here that the factory installed batteries only seem to last about 2 years before needing replacement. It's to bad Sears is gone I really liked the Sears Diehard Batteries.

Anyway, it's new battery time for me.

I think needing a new battery after only 2 years is unacceptable from ford.

I've used nothing but NAPA's best branded batteries for the past 12-15 years without any issues whatsoever. They're not the cheapest out there BUT they do support them with a good warranty and I'm yet to experience them not lasting a good solid 5 years or more. These are all installed in my E-Series with 5.4 engines.

If you are under warranty yet, you could see if your dealer will replace it under warranty, Many owners have reported having battery problems and their dealers tell them the battery still tests good and won't do anything for them or they say the battery is considered a wear out item. Unfortunately, from Ford you do not get what you pay for; you get what they paid far less for.

The carfax on my new to me 2022 F150 Lariat showed a battery replacement within the first year. Seems like it was pretty common.

I stopped at Auto Zone. I had the battery load tested and it was fine according to the tech. It was 65% charged which seems a bit low to me but it handled the load. I will continue to monitor the battery and see what happens.

I had the battery in my Explorer replaced under warranty. the dealer did push back pretty hard but I pushed harder as certain items on the car stopped working such as start/stop (which I hate) and touch lock / unlock on the door handles as well as a few other items. The dealer stated that these items stop working when the battery becomes weak but didn't want to replace the battery because the engine still started.

When I told him that he wasn't getting any money out me regardless of what they decide to do, they decided to make me happy.

yet it's not only ford,it's across the board in every brand stateside and import, i've personally had 1 year old factory AGM start fine one day, the next dead as doornail. . and yes the price today is a shocker. with AGM's being on top, still if the truck is under the 3 year 36k warranty they normally prorate the warranty by months,
with a side note, the batteries from walmart are not that bad,

Good afternoon! Feel free to send us a DM with your vehicle's VIN and mileage. We'd like to look into getting you some assistance with your battery.

Does this go for anybody? I too have a weak battery and I have the truck constantly plugged into a battery tender.

Send them a DM (private message) with your VIN, dealer ID, and problem...can't hurt.

Kinda off-topic but can anyone recommend a larger Amazon available Alligator Clamp that will connect to the Battery Tender? The one that came with the Battery Tender doesn't securely clamp to the battery leads and removing them to clamp to the battery poles is not option for me. Thanks in advance!

I’ve had 2 different 2021 Powerboost trucks and both have the original battery from factory to this day. One has 70k miles, the other has 65k miles. When and if the battery goes though; I’ll be replacing it with a xs power lithium one. https://4xspower.com/pages/product-r...d_f-150~be_3-5

Over the weekend I had a chance to stop in at the dealer where I bought my truck. It's a little far so I generally deal with someone closer. I asked about this battery situation. Where I usually go to get service I was told that it's a normal thing, put a battery tender on it and go on about your day. Said it's not only Ford but other makes as well. Ok, well I have heard of other folks with other brands having to do this so... I let this dealer know what the other dealer said and he looked at me like I had three eyes. He said no, that's not normal and that the problem is either in the programing or the battery is indeed going bad. Long story short, it's going in on the 29th of this month to have the diagnostics done and the problem solved (I hope), all under warranty. I will keep you posted
