My 2012 F250 6.7 XL has this odd led at the bottom of the tail light assembly below the tail/brake bulb. I haven't been able to get it to light up with the tail lights, brake, turn, hazard or reverse lights. Does anyone know what it does, or how to turn it on? It says HAL09-RL3 inside the clear cover.
I was thinking that it might be a fog lamp, but it is a pretty bare-bones truck without front fog lights and I don't see any switches for fog. It was previously owned by a reservation. I now recall they had some type of flashing light on the roof that the dealer removed. I'm guessing these were part of a flashing system they used. Since these bulbs are held in by screws instead of twisting tabs and I can tell the hole is not factory, they must be aftermarket. Next time I'm under it I'll see where the wires go.
Definitely a switchback, probably dealer installed. A lot of construction companies run these types and some in the headlights too, it was probably used as a reservation “law enforcement” truck.
