Hi everyone. My F350 SRW is still running stock tires which are E rated AT Michelin LT275/65R20 126/123R. Thought I had some time instead I’ve come to know I need to replace them right away or won’t make it through MOT check.
Current Michelin I’ve noticed aren’t that good on snow, no good off-roading but I don’t do much of that, are quiet on highway, overall would cover pretty much my truck usage. Carrying a truck camper though I’m wondering if a beefier tire could add a certain layer of safety / security to our travels.
My truck in pounds GVWR 11500, FAWR 5200, RAWR 7230.
Definitely I want to keep the wheels I have. I’d like to add I’m interested in other tires only from a load carrying safety standpoint. Not interested in making the truck look cooler, if it does even better. Which tires would you advise?
Always liked Cooper. AT3 are what I have had and will most likely what I put on my 2023 when replacements are needed. Never carried a truck camper but pull a Jayco 33RBTS and dump trailer with no issues.
I'm looking at Continental Terrain Contact HT or AT. Comparable to the Michelin's but a little less expensive. They get good ratings for handling, quietness and wear. Load capacity should be similar for all brands if they are E load range.

I had the HT's on my F250. Very smooth and quiet with great traction in the wet. Also had decent traction in the little snow we get here in the south and some mild off roading. I got them replaced at 50K because they were below Discount Tire's treadwear warranty, so I got like a $50 credit per tire. However, they would have lasted another 10k miles easy.
I replaced them with Michelin's because that's all they had in stock, but I wanted to try the AT version. Maybe next time.
A shop might give me a good deal on the Falken AT4W. I've read lots of positive reviews on those tires.
Super Duty's owners out there with those specific tires, can you let me know which size you went with, if the front tires clear well (mine is stock with 20' wheels), if you haul heavy or not, and general thoughts on them?
I don't have the same size tires as you, but I've hauled my truck camper with a few different tires over the last 15 years. I've liked the Yokohama Geolandar A/T's the best, Cooper AT3 were okay (but far inferior to the Yoko's in snow), and I currently run a commercial tire, the Bridgestone Duravis R500 HD. I haven't had the Bridgestones long enough to have a complete picture of how well they do, but so far the truck rides and handles great with them.
I've also used Duratracs, and BFG All Terrain T/As. I don't recommend either of those. In particular, the Duratracs were flat out dangerous and should be discontinued in load range E.
Going to get some BF Goodrich K02's put on my rig(2019 F250 6.2) tomorrow morning. Coming from Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Got about 40000 out of the Nitto's and they're down to about 4/32 so its about time. Figure I'd try the Goodrich this time from reviews I've read. I like the sidewall look and they're a few dollars cheaper than the Nitto's. Getting new tires on your truck is like driving a brand new vehicle!! So smooooth that you did'nt realize how worn down your old ones were.
I just got rid of my Mickey Thompson BAJA AT tires. 56,000 miles and they probably could have gone another 5,000 before hitting the mileage bars.
They looked great. Wore well, were quiet and were 3 peak winter rated. I'd buy them again.
That said, My Ford Dealer is doing a sale $1 over cost for any tire they handle. They don't handle Mickeys. But they do handle Falken AT4s
Which are also 3 peak winter rated ( I have a season pass to the local ski resort and speed my fair share of time in the snow)
They were $1200 for the tires and another $265 for mounting, balance, and taxes. Out the door $1469
The best deal on Mickeys right would cost me $2100 So almost a $700 saving. I'm giving them a try.
The Falkens are quiet, and have a 60,000 tread wear warranty. We'll see if I still like them 6 months from now.
I did get the LT285/65r20 size. So I've plus sized vs the 275 came on the truck.

I have the AT's on my truck and I like how they ride. Not too noisy, but they do collect the fine gravel. Not a big deal to me. They did well in the winter.
I had excellent results from Centennial tires on my Suburban, so I ordered a set for my F-350 SRW. At 57,000 miles I removed the OEM Michelin 275/65R20 E and installed my studded snow tires for two weeks while we had some crappy weather. I had the Centenial M/T 33x12.5x20 F (12-ply) tires installed. In hind sight, I should have went with the 35" tires which easily clear the snowplow/camper pkg just fine. I could likely use 37" if I wanted to. I keep them at 80psi all around on the stock Lariat Sport wheels. The first day I rode them on a 2,200 mile highway trip. They did fine though they are not as quiet as the Michelins. They grip like crazy though. They cost about $850 and another $128 for mount and balance + TPMS relearn. I replaced the spare with the same. Next time, 35" tires 33"x12.5"x20"
Thanks everyone for your feedback. 35' tires look more and more interesting as long as certified as E tire.
Since I want to keep the front stock I'd like to hear if Super Duty's between 17-19 had any issue installing 35' tires on 20' wheel. I've seen videos of 35' tires where rubber would kiss the frame when turning. Is that common to all 35' tires or just some manufacturers?
You should have zero fitment issues with the 295/65/20 and can get the highest 129 load rating with those. I had a 2019 6.7 with heavy service front springs (same as a camper package) and that size tire and they looked great.
The heights vary and I would get one on the shorter side. The Falken is on the taller/heavier side in that size. I would look at the options in Michelin or BFG AT (4 options in total there). Only reason I don’t run the BFG KO2 is because they toss gravel really bad.
