Center consol on 2001 Excursion...

Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody knew if there was a light inside of the center consol? When I open mine at night it is pitch black inside and I cant see a thing. Is anyone else's lighted?
Thanks Gene

mine doesn't have a light, although now that you mention it, it would be rather easy to intall one because you could wire into the aux. power coming out the back of the console. I imagine a switch that would actuate when the lid was opened wouldn't be that hard to find, either... Cool, now I have a winter project...thanks

You could use a trunk light or a light from under the hood. I think these lights have built in mercury switches that turn on when tilted up.

I just put light from one of my Coleman coolers on the inside of my console lid. It works great and is battery operated. Switch is actuated by a sliding piece of metal that when upright will connect the contacts. very easy to do, but you do have to find one of the Coleman coolers...

If your interested, go to Coleman's web site. Go to the "order parts" section and do a search for a Nightsite chest cooler. The light is $6.60. I'd call 'em cause you need the bracket it slides onto and that doesn't show a part number.
