Lighting Question

Before I start diving into the deep end searching for pigtails and wiring, does the XLT already come with the required wiring to run Fog lights and courtesy lights on the floorboards? My XLT ex has many other upgrades (found standard on Limited) but doesn't have fog lights. It came with the bar style steps and doesn't have courtesy lamps. I'd like to add these two sets of lights.

I think all X's had running boards equipped with lights. My XLT did, but were no longer present as the previous owner added the nerf bars. Look under for the plugs. Fog lights, I added them, only had partial infrastructure for them. Check my thread for what to look for on both issues. Floor board courtesy lights, I don't think they ever had them, something I'd like to add like I did to the B pillars inside.

My truck has these running boards. I'll check for any loose plugs underneath for the courtesy lights. I did see the post on your thread for the fog lights. Will go back and grab the parts info and add them later. TIA.

You can add as I did, and others, add led strips above the running boards.

Ohhhh, then he may not be pre-wired.
I do know that my XLT has the "Comfort and Convenience" package, which included leather, overhead trip meter, power quarter windows, possibly the center floor console, and probably the lighted running boards.

My XLT was a government fleet (Army Corps of Engineers) vehicle so it came with the “Discomfort and Inconvenience” package, cloth seats, no overhead display, fixed quarter windows, non lighted running boards but it does have the center console.

I thought your version was an LT, but in 2001 it appears to still be an XLT.
Took me a lonnnnggg time to finally find a 2001 Brochure. And it says that "Black non Illuminated Running Board" was STD on the XLT, but I was still wired for them.

Got a chance to peek under the hood and the front doors. No wiring pigtails are hanging around. I will have to run my own harness for the fog lights and courtesy lights.

@01__Excursion Found this unused electrical plug under the intercooler pipe on the driver's side. Any idea if this could be a pigtail for the fog lights?
