My main computer is an Alien Aurora R9 and recently been having a lot of issues. Every time I wake it from sleep mode or exit a game of mine I get a black screen and lose all response forcing me to hold the power button so I can restart the it. Anyone else having these issues or an issue after a recent update? Just curious. Mine's been doing it since Sunday and friends of mine said they've been having weird problems as well. I got wind that it that an update was causing issues for some but can't find anything online about it.
Have you tried reaching out to Alienware support? Sometimes they can provide insights or even a fix for these kinds of problems. And yeah, updates can be a mixed bag sometimes. It's like they fix one thing but break something else. Hopefully, you can find a solution soon!

I have not but I fear I might have no choice. Figured I'd open it up tonight and see if anything is out of sorts inside the box just in case. As far as I know everything should be up to date...which I thought was maybe not the case because of the issue emerging after the computer sitting off for a few days but I was wrong. Thanks!
first thing to do is clear all cookies and cache. then run a malware and virus scan. games are notorious for malware and viruses embedded in them which will cause all kinds of issues with computers.

LOL Dunno what games you've been playing but I use to be a hard core gamer starting back in the mid 90's and of the hundreds if not thousands of games I've ever installed or just played online were perfectly fine including over 11 TB of games I still have installed on two different computers I use. (No that wasn't a typo, I said over 11 terabytes) I think you've been reading bs some moron with no life and can't afford a gaming pc to write such nonsense. Games are no more susceptible to virus/malware than any other computer program.
i dont play games online.
just repeating what i have been seeing on different forums over the past 4-5 years, including here. and once cache was cleared and malware/ virus scans were completed and cleared all was well again.
Go to system, check and see if you have a reset function, save your stuff and run it.
When it restarts say an hour later you will most likely have to add some things like passwords etc.
But your system will be clean of junk and maybe work for you much better. You may also need
to run an offline scan to clean out bugs Apps have installed maliciously.
You can also run clean and reinstall updates / repair. With 11 you should reappraise Your
Keyboard Function keys, they can save you a lot of time searching for answers.
You may have some hours of downloading extra Updates ahead of you. Also make
Sure your system is set to protect it from naughty Apps again, as it may be shut off due
to malicious Apps and the hell they can cause us.
Sure "Apps" seems like gods gift / ( free pass to Hell)
Go to Windows update, Advanced options and you will see Recovery. save your stuff and run it.
If you don't save you will loose all of it and have a clean drive to redo. If you go that route run it
again and then download your complete system again from the Cloud.
After all the above If things work well for a while and it happens again well your Apps are most likely
an infection of a maliciousness virus that is out of control. China, N.K. Russia, wherever.
If you really love online games, maybe get a separate hard wire internet to only run on your other puter
and not on your personal Password life account. What's an extra $100 it you love the stuff. You can
pick up a 11 pro refurbished Business puter for under $250 online to do your personal life stuff.

Appreciate the responses and I think I may have found the issue. I finally found an article today (I will post link below) that says a recent update is causing issues similar to mine. I do online game...but mostly private sessions with friends and if I were to game with random people I have programs installed to help protect against this stuff and only run official servers that are usually monitored but moderators and I run everything through Steam (has been around for 20 years or so) and it's a game I've always ran (American Truck Simulator...I know...kinda boring for most) but only had issues as of recently. I know I know, these programs can only do so much but I haven't installed anything new and I usually stay away from online games on browsers. Been gaming online for around 6 years (If you're really ambitious you can see my gamer tag on my profile) and never have had an issue so I highly doubt malware has snuck in and I go through files and scan the computer every other day to make sure nothing breaches through. If Microsoft doesn't release an update soon I will probably do a factory reset and see if it fixes it then.

Clearing cache and temp files clears up memory issues within the web browser (ONLY) being used. So the next time that person goes to a specific website, everything will load like it's the first time instead of caching old files and what not for display, (often outdated info) that can cause issues. Has nothing to do with malware or virii. Posting "Games are notorious for...." etal is blanket statement garbage that fits right in there with conspiracy theorist bs. False information blindly repeated because the person thought it sounded good and fit in with their narrative. Doesn't matter what the facts are once that point of saturation is met....in their mind anyway.
Back in the 90's I also worked for Microsoft for a little while, learned a few tricks.
QB go ahead and do the Factory Reset to get back you drive speed. It will work for you well. Just a couple hours of personal sitting around while it does its magic with your drive.
If your drive is funky run the startup stuff with your F diagnostic's to find out if you should buy a new drive. With what I have heard I believe a new drive is needed due to your gaming.
Hell yeah! I finally fixed it! Turns out my Nvidia Experience was not giving me the most recent update so I manually downloaded it and sure as **** it's fixed.
Don't be afraid to reset, saving your stuff. It will speed up the Drive.
Run the F diagnostic to see if you should put in a new drive.
Basically you can stress your puter to see if it has its stuff good.
I had 13 i7 Dell latitude laptops doing Health diagnostic puttering.
I am converting to Dell Desktop Optic now with 5 --11 pro so far.
My personal thing. Trying to help people worldwide with better health stuff.
176 years of putering near 250,000,000 points earned and 265,000 published .
It's sort of my driving thing since about 5 years before I retired. Try to help !
I played my puter games on my Commodore 128 --- 35 years ago.

That's odd. Nvidia experience usually hammers me with updates available. At the very least it dings an icon change in the task bar by the clock to let me know an update is available and they usually launch an update once a month or so.
Odds are in a few months he will update his puters model for more fun most likely. The drive is stuffed is a thought.
My i7 are wearing out, reason to move on with Dell desktop optics 11 Pro here. More room on the desktop 2.
I have shut down my 10 pro i7' Dell Latitude laptops now, but the new 5 Optics are moving forward 3 days each day. Mostly doing
uncurable Cancer's Gene weaknesses.

It is weird. The weirder part is it said I was up to date AND I just had an update a week previous but I was looking closer and according to the history the last update I got was in January. Why it did that I have no idea but guess I'll be looking closer now.
