I have 3700 miles now on the new truck and have not seen a display pop-up for auto regen in progress. My 2016 would let me know on the display that regen was in progress. It did however let me know I was low on DEF. I'm assuming these new models use more DEF since I am already filling up the DEF tank before 5000 miles.
uses more def, notifcations are no longer present.
Since it is an XLT go into settings and maybe you can Un-check the Autoregen box.
If you can then it won't regen without you being prompted. More importantly it wont regen until it is actually needed vs the behind the scene regen based upon miles alone.

There is no setting for regen. I was wondering the same thing for my 23, I have never seen a message that the truck was in regen even though I know it has. Is there a setting in Forscan to enable the message?

No, there is no message and no way to enable one. The closest to that would be as Senix suggested. Enabling OCR with auto regen check box (Forscan). When auto regen is turned off it will then display a message when full and tell you to clean soon. You then turn auto regen back on and allow a regen. Even without the message you can get an idea of when it's in regen by watching the DPF% screen.
From what I have read the '23+ seem to have a completely different regen algorithm compared to previous years. I hear they go into active regen more often and sometimes at low DPF%.

My 2024 F450 has only done two full-regens and currently at 2,300 miles or so. It must be doing partials all the time as it typically hovers around 40-50% for a long time.
Since the most recent regen, it has stayed at 0% for the last 200 miles.

That's kind of what I've read from others. When towing it's understandable because of passive regens, but it sounds like more frequent or partials are somewhat common with this new gen even when unladen.
Because I don't tow my '19 has never done a regen at anytime other than 100%, and also have never had the miles factor come into play.

The 23+ are completely different, they have an injector on the DPF that replaces the fuel injection during the exhaust stroke on earlier years. This is much more efficient if you think about it, put fuel to where it is needed instead of way upstream. From my 11,000 miles I have seen regens at about every 500 miles and my DPF% is usually around 85% or higher. When I tow my DPF% is usually 20% or less so I assume that regens do not occur. The regens last 10 min or less so I do not constantly monitor the DPF%, I do check them at least once every time I start up and if I drive for more than 30 minutes at a time I check it periodically. Only once did it start a regen that I would have wanted to know so that I could have driven around the block once or twice for it to complete. To use Forscan to turn off auto regen and then drive till I get the message, haul out the computer reattach it start Forscan enable auto regen will take at least the same amount of time and more effort than for the truck to take care of itself. Pg 221, message format is on page 224, of the 23 manual says that you will get a message that the filter is cleaning but I have never seen it.

I am fully aware of the functional differences of the '23+, although not sure how it is relevant to what I was saying. My point was only to say that regen events, from what I've read, differ in some ways to how they were in the previous years. No negative connotation. YMMV. I'm not sure if enabling the auto regen box is even possible on the '23, or if turning it off would have any negative impact.
If the ability to turn on and off the auto regen is of no use to you, cool, I'm not saying anyone should or should not do it. Just one way to get a clear alert on the display when the DPF is full.
Just so you are aware, enabling the auto regen check box only requires the computer and Forscan once. There is no need to hook up the computer to turn it on and off every time , it adds a check box in the gauge menu that you select or deselect at will.
It doesn't sound like you are alone in not seeing that exhaust filter cleaning message. I can't even speculate on why the manual shows it as being a normal message.
Speaking of DEF-related dash displays, a nice enhancement would be adding approx miles to empty on the DEF gauge when it’s selected as one of the 4 top row gauges, similar to miles to empty for fuel (2024 F350)
