Innova code reader

I have a 1994 full size Bronco with a 5.8. I cannot get the code reader to do a cylinder balance test. I have ran it over a dozen times. I get to the 111 and “blip” the accelerator it just sits there on 111. What am I doing wrong?

That function is not available on these trucks.

Did not know that. Thanks. It read several codes that I fixed so I thought it would. 👍

When the prompt asks for the "goose" test
You need to do it all, not just hit the gas for a brief WOT
The OD cancel button if equipped must be activated
The brake lamps BOO switch must activate
The knock sensor if equipped needs a smack on the engine block with a big hammer
And the PSPS switch needs to be activated, steering wheel needs abrupt movement
Then you should get the rash of codes after doing all of that
This all needs to be done within moments of the prompt or you have to start over
Good luck, have fun
Disconnect the IAC or something so you know it should output a code

I did all that and it will read codes. I worked and cleared all codes. When I go to do the cyl balance test I can’t get by 111. That 111 tells me that I have no pending codes and I can go to cyl balance. It won’t go any further. Thanks for the reply

Cylinder balance is a EECV thing (1996 and newer) function on a scan tool that will do it
No EEC4 vehicles have that capability in their software
At the dealer we had the big SBDS machine that was like an old scope
It hooked up to each injectors wiring individually and the fuel pressure, coil etc.
We still had to check the base engine compression, but the machine tested injector function and cylinder balance

Thanks, that was what I needed to know. I’ll quit banging my head now.😎 The code reader works well. I do recommend it

Not true, the Mustang computers would do it and I suspect other OBD1 MAF versions would as well, it requires a system with sequential injection for starters and that rules out all of the SD trucks as they were batch fired.

Went back to the manual and it does state vehicles with Sequential Electronic Fuel Injected ( SEFI ) systems only. Thanks

The ‘94 Bronco would run that test. It was a 5.0L with MAF.

I was thinking I might be wrong on that
Been saying for years that I can run your wipers and shift into 4x4 etc., with my NGS
