Wierd blower issues
Having strange issues with the blower motor in my '93 Aerostar. Blower motor works great in the summer, blows hot or cold. In the winter, the fan intermittently kicks on. Occasionally, at high rates of speed, the fan will suddenly kick on for a few minutes, then turn off. It's getting cold, and it is no fun driving around freezing in the winter. I checked and replaced the blower fuse, and it is good. I cannot locate the Auxillary Heater/AC Fuse Link to check that. I have also checked the radiator fluid levels. I am a little lost because it all works great in the summer. Any direction would be helpful. Hot air does blow out dash vents when set to vent/heat at higher rates of speed. This is a 3.0 V6.

Well, if Ford put the same blower in the 92 F150's...I guess you are due for a new blower. My 92 F150 was exhibiting a similar problem to yours'; it was coming off and on when it wanted to( I don't think the outside temp was a factor) and was intermittantly producing a squealing sound. I suppose the bearing was shot and allowed the motor to become loose at its' internal electrical contacts. I think I paid a Ford dealer about $80 bucks for a new one. The blower motor came with a clip to hold the squirrel-cage fan, ( the fan wasn't included- you must use the old fan) and a rubber tube to help drain water out of the motor. I installed it and it has been running smooth once again.
