I wasn’t hoping to be a frequent poster with regard to issues, but here’s my first one post purchase.

It started off with the rear camera as blue from time to time. This is the third photo. I’ve only had the truck for a couple weeks, so this hasn’t been really often or anything. Sometimes it would work, then sometimes it wouldn’t.

Fast forward a few days, the rear camera would do some weird graphical stuff. To me, it looked like it was displaying what the image processor was detecting as depth or distance overlayed on the image. Or maybe it was just crapping out. Not positive. That’s the first and second photo.

it took another form this week. Now when going to reverse, the whole screen goes black, no 360, no nothing. On the first time, it’ll pop up after a few seconds saying I need to contact the dealer. The button won’t work when it’s in this state. Last night I went ahead and went back to factory in forscan, and no dice. I then rebooted the Image Module using forscan, and everything started working right away. I drove around for 30 minutes or so and all stayed good.

This morning, it has crapped out again. So, off to the dealer I go. I have an appointment on Tuesday. I strongly suspect it’s the image module. Or perhaps a harness or the rear camera.

I know there’s usually a few things that need to get fixed when you buy a new truck. Hopefully this is the one thing on my truck and it’s a quick and easy fix and then several trouble free years.

I suspect this will require parts, so I doubt this will be a single trip fix. Maybe a harness has come loose or something. Though that doesn’t jive with a reboot temporarily fixing it…. Eh, I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

 

Every year Alumiduty has had rear camera issues. Every.Single.Year. we are on production year model 8. 8 years straight of the same problems.
