Exactly. We've got 3 7.3s sitting in various shops all dropped the #8 cylinder. 2021s to 2023 250s and 450s all with the same problem.
Valvetrain is different in 2023 just an FYI so 3 different model year trucks all dropping #8 which isn't the most common one to go. It's probably attributed more to how the trucks are used not luck of the draw. Someone should buy a Power Ball ticket.

fortunately for me the motor has been bulletproof, just other annoying things like lower pan, etc.
i see engine failure on here all the time with the 7.3L under severe use. I wonder what the culprit is? Too bad someone isn’t out of warranty and broke it down to see. Lack of oil, or I’m wondering if it’s cheap metal. But without people taking offense/ flying off the deep end, etc. seems to be an issue

he’s got his cape on everybody lookout
There’s no way the 7.3 can have major issues and fail. Come to think of it I think my 7.3 engine failure and the lost downtime was nothing but a dream or maybe I was just lucky too. I’ll toss the other guys that were in line in front of me for 7.3 replacement onto the list of power ball winners if you don’t mind

3 trucks same cylinder and 3 different model years. The guy claims his boss's truck has lost cylinder 8 three times in 54k miles. Plenty of guys driving 7.3s around with more miles than that and not having issues. That many #8 cylinders going bad from one group of trucks that are all with the same people. If you are incapable of using logic that's on you.
Everybody better go buy a diesel because all your problems will go away according to Rwhjr.

Actually Ford better hope Ram doesn't release the 6.7 cummins gas engine with the ZF transmission. If they do Ford will be sucking hind teet if they don't have this stupid lifter issue resolved by now. There's another freaking 22' 7.3 failure in the 7.3 forum again....
Just looking forward to all three manufacturers improving from this covid production era. Enough of the 2020+ trucks I service have fit and finish quirks or need warranty fixes. Im doing yet another Sterling 10.5 pinion seal on an F350 this coming Friday, truck has 6,300 miles on it. Talk about empty passenger seat rattles , got plenty of that going on too. Seats have quite the play in the backrest portions.

Is that 6.7 gas really happening? Id seen it mentioned over a year ago but no official word since. Id like to know more if you've got info?
coming in late, those zf trannies are not that great, the 9 speed zf licensed made by jatco in the newer Nissans have lock up clutch issues , talk about what used to be called the taco shudder,
I Posted this link not long ago. Lists medium duty but is fitted in a Ram pickup for testing so there is hope it will be a pickup truck option. Probably with much more HP because I doubt anyone will buy it with 325hp in a pickup truck when the competition is at 400hp, even though the torque figures leave much to be desired of the Godzilla.
Nightmare customers. Any self employed folks here? Have customers expect 100% perfection? I weed those folks out and choose not to do business with them. It’s unrealistic expectations at a minimum. Imagine getting black listed because you expect every little detail to be absolutely perfect. Maybe that’s what should happen.

660 torque leaves much to be desired? My 7.3 is 485, 660 is 36% more. I agree, the horse power number would probably need to start with a 4.

My question is, have the higher trim level trucks had a better quality standard over the base models? Its still an assembly line Ford work truck at the end of the day right? Ive spent an entire career around base model work trucks and while far from junk they all had quirks and made some noises early on in life. Never been around a higher trim than a loaded up XLT long enough to notice if there is actually a better quality to the build and a valid complaint here.
As for being self employed, yes and ive built two separate businesses and would only work for the blue color customer that understands nothing is perfect but we can get damn near close. Few down to earth white color customers over the years but far and few between.
A 6.7 Cummins with 36% more torque wouldn't leave you desiring more of your 7.3L?
Oh for sure, the majority of my trucks have been Cummins powered. I have mostly owned Dodge and Ford trucks. I like the 7.3 a lot but would probably get a gas Cummins if it has that amount of torque and a 8 speed transmission.
