Transfer case shaft seals

Anyone replace these and how hard is it. Mine is leaking around the front wheel drive shaft.

Great, thanks for reminding me I need to do mine! It quit dripping recently, so I guess that means all the gear oil has leaked out. Maybe I'll just refill with thicker oil

I worked with a guy years ago who usually drank at least a 12 pack every nite. His car used to leak oil pretty bad. Then one day he came into work and said, it stopped dripping. It healed itself. About a week later his engine set up! Guess he should have used the thicker oil trick! LOL

Just removing the front and rear driveshafts is a bit of work! It kind of looks like the case would have to come off the truck to remove those flanges.
I have only worked on a newer unit.

I should've done mine when I had the case out to replace the mounts, but nah, that would be waaaaay too easy!!! It had never leaked before, so either all the caked on grease was keeping it sealed up, or the 80W90 gear oil in it was too thick to leak out. I refilled with the spec'd 50W oil, & soon after - a drip.

I sure wouldn't want to work on it in the frame, but at least you don't have to separate it from the trans.
