I replaced the weatherstripping, and some of the dash wiring, in my '68 about 5-6 years ago, and I took the dashpad out as well, thinking that would make things simpler.
Turns out it didn't matter, as the dashpad is just that: a pad, for a metal dash, and from the top of the dash there's little to nothing accessible underneath.

no. Just curious about access to feeding wires. But sounds like the actual top of the dash prevents it anyways, so no sense in waiting to replace the glass and gasket.
