That's a rather small air cleaner for a big engine. If it were me, I'd have the biggest one I could squeeze in there. The more air you're able to pass through, the better the engine will run.

that is partially my fault, I suggested to try one for the old carb to help the vacuum signal to the venturies and help him lean out the total mixture, think I didn't explain well enough
I think manifold vacuum that’s off the port that the transmission vac line goes on
Not sure where that is , but sounds like it is from the manifold..........
Many , if not most people ( including myself ) do not KNOW which one is best to use !!! I almost have it figured out....ha
Ported is carb connected vs manifold connected . These connections affect how the engine/motor spark is timed...........Timing.........
Ported seems to be the best for MY engine , but not100% sure of that because there are good points for both & different reasons to use either.........
Topic is very complicated ( if you KNOW all the factors involved ) . Many swear they know but it can be difficult to prove...........I am starting to believe it is engine specific !!!
I digress 4 now..............ha.............I should be fixing my floor pans...............or parking lights.................or horn switch..............or pinion , or adjust shift linkage or ..............................
