Hello I just picked up a no rust 1968 f 250 stepwise 4x4 Brush truck . The dipstick is the wrong one. Can someone give me a correct length. I put in 4 quarts and nothing shows!
Which engine?
Most 4X4 trucks of this era used 6 quarts. So 4 quarts might be just at the end of the dipstick and you haven’t seen it yet.
The in-line six engines sometimes took even more oil.
I don’t know your year and model specifically, but that’s a general statement.
Double check what the original capacity should be.
Is there an engineering number stamped into the existing dipstick? Something along the lines of “C7T*****” or similar?
According to Number Dummy "4WD uses a different oil pan, pickup tube, dipstick, and dipstick tube than 2WD". Maybe someone has the part number for the 4WD dipstick.
Don't know if 2WD vs 4WD matters but mine is 19 1/2" from stop to the end of the tip.
Thank you so Much, What I found out was I really had no oil in the engine. STUPID me. I have reciffired that issue and will not make that again! I am going to see how much I am loosing now! Thx.
