Question 2019 OEM Bug deflector removal question

So over time, some of the little cone bumpers have come loose and I've been reattaching them as needed using a blob of silicone. Kind of annoying..
Today, I noticed the driver side end one was loose. I went to move the shield to reattach the cone bumper and found the shield was barely attached!

Upon closer look, all of the plastic tabs on the shield EXCEPT the end 2 (metal I think) were all cracked and useless.
What a joke - So I easily removed the shield, discarded it and then removed the remaining cone bumpers.
Totally filthy under where the shield was of course-

Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion to remove the adhesive left from the factory OEM bumpers?
I've tried Goof Off and Goo Gone and WD-40 and cant even touch it.

I need something that will dissolve the adhesive/silicone w/o removing the paint of course.

After removal, seeing that the hood is stamped embossed with SUPER DUTY, I think the truck actually looks better now without the shield in place but the circles of adhesive need
to come off.

If you put a stick on shield on you'll never see the leftover residue from the previous install. Believe me, in my experience they won't come off. Dozens upon dozens of auto car wash trips and secure as ever. In fact I'm pretty sure I'd be far too likely to break one trying to remove it. So I let them go with the truck at trade or sale time. Same for the stick on window vent shades.
I'm just waiting for the FordPass points to come in so that I can get one for the new truck.

Thanks but I like the look now ironically. Just need to get rid of the residue and not remove the paint in the process LOL

Understood. I kinda like the stamped "Super Duty" on the hood of the new truck and am not 100% sure yet that I'll put a deflector on this one.

I had the same issue when I removed bug shield. Make sure that it’s actually adhesive rather than remains of the double sided tape that was on the rubber bumpers. If I remember I used acetone to dissolve the remaining adhesive. Then followed up with some cleaner wax.

Either acetone or MEK should work and not create issues with the paint. Acetone will evaporate more quickly than MEK so it may n
be more effective. Just test it on the underside of the hood first.

Thanks. Yea, some of it could be the double sided tape. That wouldn't surprise me. Hopefully acetone/MEK will take care of either...

Acetone will probably eat the paint...I use one of these and they are nice, don't let it get too hot from the friction and keep it moving. You tube can demonstrate.

I catalyzed paint usually won’t be affected by acetone, MEK, lacquer thinner or nail polish remover. But you should always try it first on an area that’s out of view

it will eat enamel .

I wouldn't use acetone/MEK, which is way to strong as far as I'm concerned. What i been using successfully is Varsol/Paint thinner. Moisten small part of a rag and dab it, let sit a min and rub lightly while putting more Varsol on the rag. Whatever you do, don't rub to hard. Give it time to do it's work. It'll come off! Then wax that area.

I would start with a little rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth.

I've used WD40 t remove stickiness from my vehicles, worked every time. Once done hit it with a coat of wax and call it a day.

3M adhesive remover works great. Kinda pricy but it comes in a big can.

That's in a spot where you'll look at it every time you walk past the front of the truck. I'd stop by a reputable detailing shop that you trust and let them look at it. Those guys have TONS of little tricks they use for getting all kinds of weird stuff off cars without screwing up the paint.

I’ve used a 3M eraser wheel with great results before. Ya gotta be careful with it though.

I got one of the stick on one's for my 23, but have not installed yet.
How do you end up cleaning paint under it, or you don't?

Sorry for the minor hijack!!
