Edel 600cfm carb...Do they work...?
I bought a 600 edel to use on a mild 390.....I did a search and found people complaining about the carbs....
I bought it because I thought they were very tunable and would work well on the street....
Does anyone have one that is working well for them...???

I bought the edel 600 (1406 carb) including the Performer intake, cam and timing chain. I put it on a 302 (I know its not an FE) 81' F150 4x4. The carb works great. No problems. Starts right up and runs good.

The edels are tricky to tune because you have to take them apart and put in different metering rods. I prefer the Holley just because of the ease of putting a different power valve or jet sizes in. I think the Holley with the same cfm will create more power for you than an edel. The demons have some nice choices also.

worked on mine for long time
I used 600 cfm Edelbrock carb for 7-8 years (about 20K) on my 1st 390 build up of my engine, I never had to tune, and it was great. When building the engine this time I broke the rule (if it aint broke don't fix it) and got a Holley 670 Street Avenger (elect choke) and it hasn't been as trouble free. Holleys are for people who like to mess with Carbs (and I'm not one). I'm not ditching it yet, but it's on my "S List" and if it doesn't straighten up ...

Love mine, little idle and mixture tweaking, but it started the truck and ran right out of the box. been on for 5 years now with no trouble. I bought the tuner kit, but should have saved my money, I ended up about right where it started.

I have run both holley and edel, Holleys I have always had needle and seat problems along with fuel leaks and fires under the hood. the edel I spent about a week getting the jetting and idle right and havent hade to mess with it since
