HEI Distributor Install for 390

We have installed a JEGS HEI Distributor in a Ford 390 and cannot get the engine running. We have spark at all cylinders, but thinking it might have something to do with the wiring -- old to new. Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas welcome.

Was the engine running before you removed the old distributor?
Did you stab the new distributor in with the rotor pointing to the same position, atleast as close as possible?

Yes to all. It's my cousin's pickup. Was running well before the swap.

are you getting 12v to the HEI on start/run?
I think the coil wire might have a ballast resistor that decreases the voltage.
