I am trying to run the halo portion of my ebay fog lamps as DRL(s). I am reading conflicting information here but it seems that 02+ can have them but might not unless they are Canadian models.
The Auto lights work fine if I throw a hat on the sensor but that is not what I am trying to accomplish.
I see that there are ways to add DRL capacity but there seems to be conflicting information on how to do so.
Dog the fog lights if you want but they were free and are much better than the sandblasted looking stockers on the vehicle.
Any switched 12 volt source could be used to activate a relay and power the fog lights.
If you want them to go off automatically when the headlights come on, then two relays would be needed.

Do you mean this as using an independent 12 volt source and relay to just power the white part of the halos during the day manually? The stock switch in the dash works to turn on the fog light bulb with no issues already.
I mean you can take any switched 12 volt source ( switched means it comes on when you turn the key to run ) and use that to activate a relay that will light up your halos whenever you have the key on.
if you would like the halos to go off automatically when the headlights themselves come on, it’ll take two relays to get that done.

That is a fantastic idea.
Why use a relay when the current draw is very low on the LED(s)? I can check with a dc clamp meter to be sure.
Can you think of a scenario where I would want to turn off the halos off when the headlights come on? I can't think of one but that doesn't mean there won't be a scenario I am not thinking of.
You may be able to get away with powering the halos directly from the switched power source depending on what circuit it is.
As for why turn the halos off, well , you said you wanted DRL, and DRL’s turn off when the headlights come on, that’s the only reason I mentioned about turning them off when the headlights come on.
