I have a 79 f150 that originally had a 302 with factory air. I’m putting in a 300 and I’d like to have air. Where can I source a bracket for the pump? Vintage air had a 1980 pump bracket and some say it will line up. They also have a kit for 300 trucks with factory air but it’s 2k and I don’t wanna spend that much. Any input or sources for one?
So your 79 would of had a York compressor just like the 80 to think 82 300 Fxxx trucks they then switched to the Sanden type compressor.
The Fxxx truck with the York has a 2 part bracket from what I had seen.A plat that the compressor bolted to and a bracket that bolted to the block.
There was an adjusting bolt between the 2 and how the belt got tight.
The Sanden bracket bolts to the block and there are little brackets that bolt to the compressor.
It is the little brackets that have a bolt as a pivot to tighten the belt.
Also note that the Fxxx trucks use a Ford PS pump and Exxx used a Saginaw PS pump.
Because of this the AC brackets are different that bolt to the motor.
They say the Saginaw pump is a upgrade over the noisy Ford pump as id the Sanden compressor, less power to turn it and less vibration.
My 81 F100 with a 300 came with the Saginaw PS pump but only had the York compressor side of the 2 part AC bracket.
A member on another forum got me a Exxx (van) motor AC brackets that go with the Saginaw pump and I got a later Sanden compressor.
The last "got you" is the water pump pulley as it has 1 more belt groove than non-AC ones.
I dont know how the 302 York bracket is made but if it is a 2 part type you might be able to made the part that bolts to the 300 motor and use the compressor side to bolt to it?
Only other thing is hit junk yards for 300's using the York and the Ford PS pump (up to 83 in the Fxxx trucks) or Exxx trucks Dont know when they started but 80 use this) with the Saginaw PS and Sanden compressor and swap everything into your truck.
Good time to swap to 134A when swapping compressors.
300 motor with Saginaw PS pump and Sanden AC bracket in my 81 F100
You might ask for brackets in the for sale area as someone may be parting out a truck with what you need.
I got my air filter assy. that way.

I'm going to need to deal with this as well. I have an '80 Flare Side that originally had a 351M. It's going to have a 4.9 I6 (out of a '79 F-150).
@tlien If it had the A/C and P/S brackets, I'd work with you but it was an XL without power steering or A/C.
@FuzzFace2 So, will the brackets, shown in the o.p., work with the York compressor and the Ford p.s. pump? Is the Sanden compressor that much better than the York?
The kit I found has instructions and looking at it I think it would work for a 79 but wasn’t sure. I was told the sanden pump is better since it handles the newer Freon better anyway so that’s what I was planning on running and just change the fittings on the hose when I replaced the hoses.
I'm in no hurry to hook up the A/C in my truck. It doesn't get driven much and I prefer open wing vents with open sliding rear window. But, this is valuable info. Thanks.

I dont know what that kit uses for a PS pump or a compressor so you will need to call them to find out.
I know the Sanden dose not take as much power to spin. Also the York is a piston type and shakes a lot when running.

The kit is for use with factory power steering which I have and it calls for a Sanden style
And that is were the problem is what factory power steering for the pick up or the van as they use 2 different PS pumps so different brackets.
And yes the 300 came in vans too.

I called vintage air and they said I would need this kit along with their add on power steering system. I have the factory power steering pump but I guess it wouldn’t be compatible

Hmm, that seems a little strange. Based on what I've seen of the factory PS pump bracket, the 137127 bracket kit should have worked with the Ford PS pump and the Sanden compressor. I have no issue with switching to a compressor that handles the updated freon and is more efficient. I guess I'm a little lost as to why they told you to buy something else (and spend more money).
As an aside, my 4.9 has the dual pulleys (on both water pump and harmonic balancer) yet only has the alternator as an accessory. The engine came out of an F-150 XL (no PS, no AC). So, if I switch to the Sanden compressor and go with the Ford PS pump, kit 137127 should work on my 4.9. Right?
Both kits call for the same pump but it looks like they mount differently. I wasn’t super impressed with the guy I talked to I don’t think he knew what he was talking about completely but I could be wrong. The instructions say it can be used with our without their ps pump so I guess I may just have to buy the one and if it doesn’t work I’ll stash it away
