Am I crazy......???
Presently I have a 2011 F-250 Super Duty FX SC reg bed 6.2 with 150K on her.
Brand new tires, brakes, calipers and rotors, and did the plugs and coils at 100K., super clean no body damage at all.
It is the XLT trim with some added features not normally found, as it was ordered by a dealer for himself in Canada.
I got it with around 75K 9 years ago.
She pulls my trailer without any issues art all, which is this trailer here: https://cruiserrv.com/rv-model/radia...a-lite-r-21rb/
I am looking at a 2020 F-150 3.5 10 speed with the factory max tow package, 36 gallon tank, 2622 payload, max tow 11500, curb wight 4701 in same super cab configuration with XL trim level.
It has 35K miles.
Asking 31K.
I know the towing milage is about the same, I get 10-11 no matter what, and maybe a mile more with nothing on her.
The 150 gets 18 empty.
Any thoughts gang?
I sorta feel like I am leaving biting fish to go looking for, biting fish?
Looking at the specs on the trailer link, would it be a much noticeable difference while towing, I mean my 250 is anchored on the road......????
Thanks!
an F-150 is not an F-250 and it will feel different. By comparison, it will feel more unsettled but that’s just the nature of a half ton vs three quarter.
I would have absolutely no hesitation what so ever about pulling that trailer with either.
pick the one you like and go with it.
If you go with the 150, just spend more time on the hitch set up so it is right. Do that and you should be happy. But if you try to phone it in on the hitch set up, you are going to come back complaining that you don’t have a big enough truck. Which isn’t true, but that’s how it will feel. So spend the time to get it right.
Also do you have payments with the truck you have now and do you want them for the 150 for 31K?
Me I dont like payments and if what I got now will do the job then I would keep what I got.

The one thing that hangs heavy in my mind is how well that curb weight would hold its ground going down steep mountain passes, wind, and passing semi traffic. ?????
Getting a new ride is almost as exciting as getting a new wife that ain't all worn out......

I think temptation has caused lots of people to make bad decisions in life, we tend to fantasize without weighing all the known facts.
My buddy has a earlier 150 eco with the 6 speed on a XLT trim crew cab pulling a very similar weight trailer as mine.
He has had to turn off the AC on the bigger hills, as the temps rises, pushing it to a higher RPM, which spooks him out.
Going up the same grade I never get above 4k and have lots of pedal left if needed.
I was wondering if the 10 speed would help with that?
We have a big trip coming up in June, going over the Continental Divide with 3 weeks of travel that I know my truck pulls just fine as I have done this route before,
My payload is over 3k, his is 1700 if I remember right, with a major chunk going to his tongue, but the one I listed above is over 2500lbs. but gives away 1500lbs of curb weight which sorta scares me in wind, etc.
He has complained about going down hill, as again his RPM's get up there. I told him that is ok, its doing its things, just stay off the brakes.
I can often take a grade without ever touching my brakes.....
MPG while towing I might even have 1 or 2 miles on him.
Now riding in without a trailer, his is way better, mine still rides the same, pretty stout.
Bottom line guys, I think I;ll keep my wife and just give her a good shine

THANKS!
OH, one more plus to keeping the 250. I have a boat too, and where I live on an island the ramps are very few and far between, and primitive......
Often the tide movement and current can pretty much bury the ramps in seaweed, driftwood, and loose gravel.
I have had to go into 4 low to pull the boat out, and I am sure the added weight of my truck helps as that seaweed and stuff is slippery up on the new surface, whereas I believe my wheels dig down to that better traction....
I have helped to pull out lessor trucks as the tide was coming in and they were stuck......
One time the guys bed was awash and it was up to his floorboards. YIKES!
Add one more reason....... looking at my door sticker my truck payload is 3945 lbs, which means I can eat all the ice cream I want and still not worry about my personal payload LOL!
