Ok i need to know what I can do to fix my problem. I want to crank the torsion bars a little when i get my bigger tires and body lift. my only problem is the passenger side is already cranked all the way. The drivers side still has about another inch to be cranked. How can I correct this so i can evenly crank the torsion bars?
i have no idea. I know that if you want to raise the front you turn the nut that holds it on the cross member. Truck sits level already but I want to try and gain about 1" more by turning them in. I wanted to know how can I remove them, re-set the screws so there even and then re-install so the screws can be turned in some.
negative on that man. 1980-1996 F-150 and F-250's have the famous ford TWIN TRACTION BEAM. Think a totally open pair of scissors with wheels on either end under the truck. You have the TTB Dana 44 which uses surprise surprise Dana 44 internals such as axle shafts pumpkin and such.
Over all you have no torison bars. The TTb is connected to the frame by coil springs and shocks with a RADIUS arm connetcing the arms to the frame to keep everything in place. Give loads of axle travel. hehehehe
Hey 97flareside, I'm not 100 percent sure but I'm like 99.9% sure that you can't take the torsion bars off and reset them. Stock peices are small diameter light duty pecies that large amounts of stress will break them. From what I've seen with stock bars you've got about as much as your gonna get out of your's. I think the best thing to do would look online to see who makes some nice heavy duty aftermarket pecies that you can crank up and still have a good ride.
