I have a 1976 F-250 with a Holley Terminator X EFI system. I have been looking at different anti-theft measures I can take, and I was thinking of using something similar to a modern key fob. I can program in the Holley computer to not start unless it's receiving a specific voltage (from a 5V "sensor"). I know that there are 12 position 5V switches that I could use, but that would require it to be somewhat accessible. Is there any sort of 5V RFID (or similar, I don't know the terminology) reader that can provide variable voltage based on if it senses the card/fob?
The main reason I was thinking of variable voltage is that I can program in the computer to only start if it receives the voltage in that specific range (no hot wiring, it needs the sensor). However, if nothing like this exists, are there any simple 12V devices I could use with a key fob/card? (It would be less theft proof, as it could probably be hotwired if found, but i would be sure to hide it very out of the way.)
