Hi folks. I have a 2002 PSD Excursion Limited Ultimate, and will be installing a navigation/DVD system. To be able to fully integrate the navigation system, Pioneer requires that I tap into the "Speed Pulse" lead coming from the ECU. As you can probably guess I don't know what wire that is....
Can someone with the shop manual find and describe where/what color that lead is? Many thanks in advance. The system requires that I tap into this lead, or add a $250 piece of hardware that creates this pulse by adding a magnetic sensor outside of the car (senses steel belts in tires...I would like to avoid this!)
Also, if there is a reverse lead handy at the dash that would be great, so that I don't have to tap into system at the backup bulb (which is outside of the passenger compartment, hate to drill unneccesary holes!)
Here are the additions for the Navigation/DVD system.
Pioneer DVD Nav player
8" TFT LCD mounted off of dash in front of center console
8" TFT LCD's mounted in headrests of front seats.
did you ever find these wires? i know the speed sensor is supposed to be on the front wheel from reading other post,THE ONLY WIRES ON MY FRONT WHEEL(2WD) IS THE ABS 2 WIRES. but finding the backup wire in the dash would be cool. i am adding navigation right now and was searching to find this info. hope someone has it!
i tap my speed sensor behind the gauges, the gray with black strip. does anyone know where to find the backup signal in the dash? so i dont have to go out to the tail light! i have the reverse sensor system would it have a back up wire?
