OBS F250s and F350s only came with Sterling 10.25" axles. There is no semi-float F250 axle from 1992-1997 in the OBS. The 1997 F250s with 7-lug axles are a different generation altogether. There was never a semi-float rear F250 from 1992.
I stand corrected. I guess...
That thread is barely helpful in determining anything. OP claims it is a 94 F250 with a 300 I-6 and Mazda 5spd. GVWR is 6600lbs so less than 1,000lbs of payload. According to whatever VIN decoder was used it says 1995. Not one single picture of the axle in question but a rear angle shot of the truck with a set of 4 front hub caps. Not one shot of the actual lug nuts or wheel mount surface to see it is an 8 bolt semi-float. There is a data plate but it is similar to the 4 door bronco conversions. Those had a similar GVWR and 5 lug axle for the same weight.
The truck might be rare with a semi-float rear axle but what it is more than rare is useless as anything more than an F150.

when you want that gas mileage but also want to pretend you do work stuff

They were predominantly fleet vehicles. CAT had a ton of them in the 90s to run around their proving grounds and such. It was to help overall epa mileage for ford. Gm did the same thing with the 2500s in the mid 90s. You could get a "Light Duty" 3/4 TON with a semi float 14 bolt rear and a 350. But the gvw was like 6700 max. So if you didn't need a 9000g w but more than what a 1500 would haul... you got the ******* middle child. Much like the elusive 7 lug 250s.
They're definitely an odd truck. I've seen a few listed for sale online over the years but don't think I've ever seen one in person. '92+ I'm not sure I've ever seen them with anything bigger than a 5.0L and only 2wd, but I'm no authority on the topic. They did seem to be more common in the bricknose era.
