What's the big deal with making a stik key? Laser cut? A locksmith quoted me $250 for a stik key with just the chip no fob. And he said he doesn't have the program yet to activate it. Also my dealer doesn't have a machine to cut the new stik key. They didn't even call me back with a price or if they can make one with just a chip no fob so I can store it under the car in case of being locked out. Keypad failed me once on another Ford so that's why.
I can buy one online but who would cut it? Just Locksmiths? Amazing how things have changed. $250 for a spare key. Ford would probably want more.
Just a door key from a locksmith should be $5 or less. I get one made for every vehicle, and keep it in my wallet. One came with my '24, so that was nice.

I'd like it to start the truck with it. Don't want to leave the active key inside at trailheads, etc. I ordered remote start so I got 2 keyfobs . Yours doesn't have a keyfob to open doors ? So you just got 2 plain stik keys?
I always get a 3rd key so I can program a new one if I lose one and am down to 2. There used to be an eBay seller (a locksmith) who would sell you the fob and cut the key if sent them a picture of a ket that as already cut. I couldn't find the seller lat time I got a new vehicle. So I bought the fob, programmed it, but left the left the physical key uncut - that's my spare. If I ever have to use spare as one of my normal use keys I'll switch the physical key into the spare.

How did you program the fob? will an uncut key fit into the igniton and turn it? My 2024 you have to turn the 1st key on then off then the 2nd key on and off then do the 3 key to be programmed the same. So the keys have to be able to turn the ignition on and off.

I've bought Factory Key FOBS from https://www.carandtruckremotes.com/ many times. Programming instructions is in your owner's manual under the security section.
I took the key blanks to a dealer and they cut them for me. One dealer did it for free, another charged $5 per key.
In fact I am picking up me new 2024 450 next week. I will have the dealer cut a spare hard key I have on hand as part of the deal. Then I will use the extra FOBS from my sold 2022 450 and program it to the 2024.
With 2 preprogrammed FOBS you can self program another yourself. If you only have one FOB it requires an expensive trip to the dealer. That is why I always have a 3rd FOB in case I lose one.

My dealer doesn't or can't cut these 2024 keys. I'll have to call around and find one. I'll get a blank off the internet and program it once it's cut. I do have the 2 oem keys so I'm good.

Try another dealer. I've had more than one dealer state they are hesitant to cut aftermarket key blanks because of possible damage to their equipment.

Oh, OK.
No, I have 2 fobs (push button start), and the truck also came with a door key...just a plain metal key to unlock the door if the electronics fail.
I bought a key from this guy and he was really helpful. I couldn't get my key to program so I sent him a message, he sent me his number and I called him, I was trying the wrong program procedure, once I did what he said, it worked perfectly. I didn't have him cut it because my local hardware store cuts them for cheap.
Check your local Ace Hardware. I just had a key cut and programmed for my 2009 Explorer. About $100. But that isn't a flip key. I think the flip key presents a problem for a lot of places as far as cutting it. They can't get the blade deep enough into their machine.

The key can be taken out of the flip fob. My trouble is I'm so far away from stores and dealers here.
I'm checking out Ebay guy now.

Local Ace attempted to do that for me. They got part way in and then became concerned about doing some damage. So they put it back together and didn't charge me anything.
I think part of the problem was that an eBay or Amazon seller claimed that I could use this flip key on a 2001 Town Car that I had at the time. Not so.
