Yesterday I noticed drops of fluid under my 2000 f250 in a parking spot. Looked under and fluid was definitely coming from my truck, the drivers side of the engine had a pretty good area with fluid there. First thought was engine oil because of the color, but after checking I found fluid on the higher areas was not engine oil. Fluid on the powersteering lines made me think those and was low on fluid, however as I kept checking I found I was loosing brake fluid from the tank. Found a plug in the master cylinder and was told it's for the abs?? Also found some of the wires connected to this had been chewed, still have to find where they go to fix that, could this be the cause for my abs light being on?? And can I simply replace this part or do I need a new master cylinder?
That is the notorious brake pressure switch that burns trucks down when it leaks, I would unplug the wiring to that asap till you replace it.
The brake pressure switch is used as a redundant brake switch for the cruise control, nothing to do with the abs system, you can replace the switch and there is an updated version out there that comes with a conversion pigtail.
