e45 temp guage

e45 temp guage
Hi all,
Is the temp guage on a e450 1999 Super Duty a "real guage", I mean it never varies under 100 degree temp or towing my subaru
(e450 is a class c motorhome) the guage is always at the first "notch" at normal. I thinl the sensor might be a off/on/hi switch.
