Bad Weekend
Ok, real bad weekend story for all those who want to hear. This Friday a couple friends and I went camping at the lake by my house, and I just decided around 12 that night I wanted to go mudding. Before I even got to the mud hole, my truck started clanking and bangin so loud, then the truck shut off. It was dark, late and I didn't have a flashlight, so i left it there, locked it, and went back to the camp site. I went back in the morning and Saw a puddle of gray oil behind my truck, so I looked underneath, and there it was, a hole about the size of my two thumbs in my oil pan. Now, I'm not sure yet, but I'm guessing a piston rod blew out, heated the engine from runnin it wiht no oil, and cracked the block. I was able to pull it home and now i am stuck with no truck. A question I have is what is the biggest engine i can fit into my truck with all of the stock equip. still on it? I have a 99 4x4 with the 3.0 Fuel-Flex engine. After that bad day, I found that my other friend who was camping with us, rear ended someone and totaled his dad's Four Runner. So yes, this weekend is going down in my bad luck book. I am hoping I can fit a small V-8 possibly, but I am guessing the best I will be able to do is the 4.0 V-6.

Just go with a new block of the same size. All you will have to change out then is the block. Everything else is already designed to go with it. Trying to adapt a different size motor to an engine bay is not wiorth the trouble unless you want to deal with it.

Ok, thanks, and another thing, can anyone send me the "how-to" on greasing the slip yolk to take care of that clunking. And another thing, if I were to buy the new gas tank, skid plate, and drive shaft, what would that be running at price wise?
