I have a 2023 F350 XL - no upfitter switches. For Christmas my wife got me some BMC hitch bar lights with the wiring harness. However since I do not have the upfitter switches it's not going to work. I have two ways to handle this - aftermarket AUX switches or installing the OEM upfitter relay and replace my overhead console with the upfitter switch one.
I would like to keep with the FORD upfitter switch look instead of the aftermarket - but I am not sure if it's feasible. Can someone tell me what is the bare minimum that I will need in order to see if it it's even feasible? I found this bundle of wires where most every other person did for the passthrough wires, attached to the main bundle of cables under the hood (Is that what these are?)... I still need to find the inside wires. It looks like I even have a place to attach the upfitter relay to the side of the fuse box. But is there anything else that is absolutely needed to even try this? I know I need the console with the upfitter switches andI know I need to get the upfitter relay control. I'm talking about things that I can'tpurchase?
TBH I don't even think I need the passthrough cables right if I'm not connecting anything in the cab. I guess a lingering question is if I change out the overhead console - how do I connect the upfitter stiches? Where are those wires located?
Or is it just easier to go with the aftermarket switches...

It'll be tons easier to just wire the lights up without trying to add the upfitter equipment, tons easier.
And, not sure what upfitter relay you are talking about adding to the underhood fusebox, the upfitter setup has its own fusebox with the fuses and relays all inside.
At least in the 2017-2022 upfitters can be added after the fact, as mentioned above you need the switch panel (which for the older beer can trucks is $600-750 a pop new), the under hood harness and relay box and wiring harness for the a-pillar. You are looking about a grand or so in parts.
Just run the wires to a switch on your own, you don't need upfitter switches to add lights to your truck. I hadn't heard of the BMC kit before, clean looking product. Good luck with the install.
I know you'd like to stay with the OEM look, but this is what I went with and I love how you can program it to be any color so it perfectly matches the interior lighting. It's the SwitchPro and custom overhead mount. Just a suggestion
