I've got a 2015 6.7 f250. Over the last 2 days I've notice a burning plastic/rubber smell from the front passenger side. I haven't seen any smoke and don't see anything hanging on the exhaust. I'm at a complete loss. Has anyone had a similar issue and found a cause?
Edit: smell is noticed outside the cab

Is this a new-to-you truck? I'm wondering if you've owned the truck for a while and it's something new, or the truck is a new acquisition and you've noticed it right away. If the truck is new, it could just be the regen process. If you stop and shut it off during a regen, it has a very distinct smell that's noticeable outside the cabin. If it's and old truck and a new smell, check battery terminals, fuse boxes and any non-factory wiring. Also, I'd recommend doing yourself a favor and make sure you have a fire extinguisher in the truck, just in case!

It's a somewhat new to me truck. I've put 6500-7000 miles on it. It physically cant be regen. Those parts appear to have fallen off. No aftermarket wiring. Could the battery terminals cause it?

I mentioned battery terminals in the sense of an electrical short, or bad contact causing an electrical 'heat source'. Check the remnants of the parts that 'fell off'. Could one of the old wiring harnesses be contacting the exhaust?

I didn't see any hanging. The smell seems to be concentrated around the front passenger side of the truck and only noticeable on the passenger side of the engine bay.

Update: looks like its the ac compressor. It doesn't activate and has a good bit of play for the pulley.
