I know this subject has been posted a lot. I have a 2008 f250 super duty with the 6.8 v10. my esof will not engage have to lock the hubs in to have 4wheel drive. Do not have access to a mighty
vac pump at this time. I had checked vacuum lines to hubs had one bad fixed it still no automatic. I have vacuum. at the canister and the line going into the phv.. I ran 12 volts to the center pin and grounded each other pins. Solenoid clicked each time. I then connected the vacuum from the engine to the hub lines and it would lock into 4 wheel. Shut truck off and the stayed locked in. Had to turn from auto to lock and back then they would unlock. Would that indicate the hub seals are good. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Your hub seals should be good if they lock. As far as staying locked, my guess is either your hubs are getting sticky or are wearing out. I would like to find a lube for mine. I live in MN so it will have to work in cold temps.
Try taking them apart. Clean them and lightly grease, I put pipe plugs out by the wheels and removed the solenoid and vacuum lines. I lock my hubs in the fall and unlock them in spring.
