I just bought a 2024 F350 with a 7.3. Does not have the fifth wheel prep in it. I called a dealer to see how much it would be. When I gave him my vin, he said that I have the rails under the bed already. Looking to see if this is BS or not, how to verify and if anyone has had the 5th wheel prep put in after the purchase.
No holes are cut, no 7 pin in the box either. Just looking to see if there is a chance the rail is under the bed even though the fifth wheel prep was not part of the build.
What "rails" are they talking about???
5th wheel prep has a crossmember setup, like this one for 17-22 trucks, and if your truck already had this, the bed would have to be cut for it as the 5 pucks stick up through the floor. https://accessories.ford.com/super-d...h-prep-package

Outer sections of the frame have the 5th wheel prep rails welded from the factory as opposed to bolted on as in previous years. I believe the change was made beginning with the 2023 model year.
I have a 2023 F250 XLT with NO bed hitch prep., I ordered the 5th hitch rails and had a Truck outfitter install them. plus a 7 way plug installed in the bed side. All good now.
The dealer forgot to mention that we needed a fifth wheel package in addition to the max trailer package on an 11,100 GVWR '23 f250. Some hitch mounting brackets are on the frame from the factory. In our case no hitch brackets were on the frame. We put in a B&W gooseneck hitch ourselves in about 4 hours. Don't forget to order the plug and play Ford OEM wiring harness to connect the trailer plug in the bed. Also a friend of mine bought a 22 F-250 from the lot. He said he wanted The dealer to take out the factory fifth wheel package and put in a B&W gooseneck hitch, which can also support a king pin with companion equipment. I couldn't believe a dealer would do this, but they did. Dealer (and my friend) didn't understand the Ford Puck system. Unfortunately if a dealer has one person that knows, chances of talking to that one person are slim. I've been very happy with B&W and shocker hitches. Go to their websites to learn what you need for your truck. They have figured it out, cuz it's their only business.

In the photo you can see front covers in the photo of my 2023 with the prep package. Photo was looking at something else thus it doesn’t show the rear and center.
